Current and Future Donor-Advised Fund Distributions
The donor-advised fund (DAF) has become a popular way to manage personal charitable giving, offering philanthropically minded individuals and families the flexibility to set aside assets now for future distribution to favorite charities. When a DAF account is established at a non-profit or commercial sponsor organization, the donor can name themselves and/or someone else to recommend grants to qualified charities. The donor can also name a successor to take over grantor responsibilities after their passing, or, alternatively, name one or more qualified charities to receive whatever remains in the account.
Of special note: DAF accounts that do not have a named successor grantor or final charitable recipient will be distributed according to the sponsor organization’s policies, which may or may not take into account the charitable interests of the donor.
To ensure that your DAF account is handled the way you wish it to be, please include it in your regular review of your estate plans. If you would like to leave all or a portion of your account to Bentley at your passing, please contact us so we can provide you with information to assist you.
